Steering Wheel Covers
Our steering wheel covers are made so that you can install them yourself, you choose a combination of style and material choices and we take care of the rest. We supply everything you need to self-install, it can be done right on your driveway.
The covers are made from proven dimensions/measurements for each individual model, they are shaped specifically for that particular steering wheel.
You place the cover over your own wheel and stretch it into place, we mark out the front a rear sides, you simply loop it over, align it all up and start sewing to 2 halves together! Simple!
How hard is it to do?
It’s not difficult to do, it just takes a bit of time and patience! We think it should be something for folks who like to customise their cars to enjoy! Make yourself a brew, put on your favourite playlist and relax, you will be so satisfied with the end result 😊

No, not at all, don’t worry! The size template is designed to fit over your existing steering wheel leather/material, just cover over the top for awesome results! Our covers add around 1.4mm thickness on average too! NICE!

No, you don’t have to. We provide a special tool and some other accessories to make it easier for you to fit. Personally we do remove our steering wheels to cover them, but we have the experience and tools to do this, we are working on a series of HOW-TO videos over time to cover this subject if you think you might find it useful. *ONLY REMOVE YOUR STEERING WHEEL IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO DO SO, DO NOT ATTEMPT OTHERWISE, CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL IF IN DOUBT*
Good question! We include a serious of tips and instructions with each cover, however, the basics are as follows;
Making sure the cover is the correct way around, you loop it over your existing steering wheel and then line it all up. Once aligned, you use the included accessories, including needle, thread and thimble to begin sewing the cover over your existing steering wheel. Once completed, your steering wheel will be transformed and all your friends (if you have any, we don’t) will be amazed!
Ok, good question!
So Suede (Nubuck etc) is, in really simple terms, inside out leather. The ‘Suede’ we use is actually faux suede or artificial suede. You often find genuine suede on expensive shoes and trainers etc.
Why do we use artificial suede but genuine leather? The Suede we use is more hardwearing, we offer different grades. Our Regular is a nice finish, hardwearing and good looking.
Our premium Suede has a slightly deeper pile, thicker finish and higher fibre count, it costs slightly more but is a lovely finish, available in Grey as well as Black and is a close alternative to Alcantara.
Alcantara is actually a brand name, an Italian company producing artificial fabrics and fibres used widely in high end automotive trimming.
Alcantara is our most expensive material, but it is of the highest quality, excellent finish and can be matched to OEM paneling etc.
Alcantara is more vulnerable to flattening and wear than Leather, but with regular cleaning and care, you can expect many happy years enjoying it on your steering wheel!
Also, have a brew.
Airbag Covers
No, its nothing like the steering wheel covers. Essentially, your airbag (normally) has a removable ‘cap’ that clips/bolts/rivets over the top of your airbag assembly. These caps or covers are then trimmed in leather/Alcantara and you simply swap them over.
Each car model is different, we are slowly building a ‘how to’ guide library on our YouTube channel, We aren’t brilliant at making videos like the “HEY WHATSUP GUUUYYSS ITS YOUR BOY, ANNOYING CUN..” YouTubers but you should get the idea. The Airbag will need to be removed from the vehicle before you can begin, each vehicle is different.
If you are unsure, we can provide a fitting service (payable on the day) or you can consult a trusted garage or professional
No, airbags are very expensive, so it’s just the top cover. If you need an airbag though we can supply them!
No, you keep your old one! No need to send us anything, we factor a replacement cover into the cost for you.
These are the same principle, except rather than material being glued and stitched in place, they are laid in carbon fibre, creating a hard shell.
Good question!
The Leather/Alcantara ones are split into sections with joining stitches, when the airbag deploys, these stitches split or the airbag simply punches straight through. We have tested them and they deploy.
HOWEVER – now here is the important bit! Although they have been tested at a basic level, we are NOT approved or certified testers of safety equipment, your airbag is a key and critical part of your vehicle’s safety system and must be used correctly and maintained.
We have applied for professional testing, approaching companies such as TuV which is ongoing. It is one of our aims to have our airbag covers certified and we look forward to displaying these with pride, in the meantime, we only sell the Leather and Alcantara retrimmed airbag covers as intended for show / off road use ONLY. This isn’t a cop out for us so we don’t get sued, well, it is, but it’s also so you can make an informed decision when purchasing. We always aim to be as transparent as possible.
The Carbon Fibre airbag covers are absolutely **NOT FOR ROAD USE** and are for show use **ONLY**. The airbag will **NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY** on the Carbon Fibre Airbag covers.
Carbon Fibre Steering Wheels
No, we have a library of common steering wheels which we will use and make to your specifications!
All our Custom steering wheels start life as regular OEM wheels, we only use OEM parts and frames!
Without revealing too many industry secrets, the reshape/reframing process does not involve cutting your wheel at all.
OEM original wheels are stripped naked down to the metal and then an industrial process creates and new foam shape in the style of your choice! It’s similar to forming the foam around the original wheel when it was first made. It’s then either laid in carbon fibre and/or trimmed and upholstered in the material of your choice!
Well yes, obviously. *rolls eyes & mumbles*
Yes, that is completely accurate.
Yes, yes and yes! It’s your wheel to design, have it however you like! Can’t decide how to have it? Grab brew and drop us an email, we will think of something together!
No, it’s the wheel frame only, you change over all the trims and buttons etc from your old wheel before fitting.
Cost. You already have them, why would you need 2 sets?
Sure, we can source most parts and ancillaries, we can do that for you 😊 It will cost you more though, which means less money for Tea.
Steering Wheel retrims
This is a service we offer where our expert trimmers remove the existing leather on your steering wheel and completely replace it with high quality materials of your choice. We offer various colours and finishes of leather, perforated or full grain hides. You can compliment this with a wide range of Alcantara, we offer all OEM Alcantara shades as well as their full range of Pannel sheets. Alcantara Pannel is available in 41 shades! How amazing!
Noooo, so the retrim process is different. The covers are machine cut to a particular type of steering wheel, a full retrim is tailored to that specific wheel. It is stripped of it’s old leather, measured, repaired where needed and materials custom measured and stitched.
A retrim is more involved, the new leather and/or Alcantara are laid onto the wheel, glued down and stitched into place. It forms a completely new material layer on your wheel, whereas the covers are stitch on / cut off and can be reversed/replaced regularly if you fancy, and are stitched over your existing factory leather.
Yes! That’s right, it is made to measure to your own specific wheel, permanently attached and cannot be reversed. Your factory leather is removed and we create a lovely, factory fresh wheel for you, designed to however you’d like it!
It can be removed, but you would need to have it retrimmed again afterwards or you’ll have a bare wheel. Retrims are precision fit and will take you back to that brand new factory finish feel.
Good question, if you are looking for pros/cons then a retrim is absolute precision fitment and finish, it is much neater, the joins are sunk into the wheel for a more satisfying and neat finish, all ends are precision cut and the end product is (in our humble opinion) better than you would get out of the door with a brand new car!
We do sell both yes! We want to offer people the freedom of choice. We want to be the one place people come to for everything steering wheel and interior related, the same reason we also offer full custom wheels!
The covers we sell are a great alternative to a retrim for many reasons;
Expense (retrims are more expensive than covers, for many reasons)
Geography (some of our customers live abroad and cannot have a retrim from us)
Personal choice (some people love to do things themselves on their cars! A Cover kit enables folks to do their own handiwork!)
Retrims are also a great alternative to covers for many reasons;
Confidence and ability (not everyone is happy to sew on a cover kit, it can be daunting so a retrim is best for them!)
Finished product (our covers are of very high quality and precision fitment, but nothing ever beats a retrim for high end finishes)
Service and Precision (having us retrim your wheel means all you have to do is have a chat with us and click to pay, we take care of the rest! You don’t have to worry about sewing a cover kit on, you save time and effort, let us do the hard work for you!)
Normally we will retrim one of our Steering wheels that we have in stock, then once it’s been trimmed to your very own choice of materials and colours, we will exchange it for your old one!
If we don’t have your type of wheel in our library, we will either have to try and get one in, or we will need your own wheel to work on.
Normally by post, we will take a security deposit (normally £100, depending on the value of the wheel) prior to sending it out to you. Once we receive your old wheel back in exchange, we will refund the security deposit back to you. Please ensure the exchange wheel is sent to us within 14 days of receiving your retrimmed wheel to enable us to keep the system flowing for customers.
Failure to return the wheel or returning of incorrect or damaged wheels will result in you forfeiting your deposit.
Alternatively, we offer limited capacity for fittings. This capacity will increase once we have a larger business premises to work from, this will be announced in due time. In the meantime, come on down for a fitting and a brew!
Absolutely! That’s what it’s all about! Take a look at what we have done before, have a look online, get some inspiration! Then let us know what you’d like and we will make it happen!
Struggling? That’s ok! Lets have a chat together and come up with a design, fill out our online form and we can take it from there!
Nope, sorry. Perfection takes time. Retrimming a steering wheel properly takes many hours over several days. It’s not a ‘drive-in, drive-out’ service. We are also quite busy so you may have to wait a few weeks for your slot to become available. Once it’s all done, we will contact you and we can arrange a steering wheel exchange by post or you can come to us and we will swap them over for you (fee applicable, payable on the day)
